Alan Steppe
Madame Delphine LaLaurie, also known as Marie Delphine Macarty or MacCarthy, was a New Orleans socialite and, notoriously, a serial killer who lived during the early 19th century. She is infamous for her brutal treatment of her slaves.

It’s worth noting that LaLaurie’s heinous actions were discovered after a fire at her residence in 1834, which led to the discovery of several brutally tortured and maimed slaves. The public was outraged, and her home was subsequently ransacked by an angry mob. The true extent of her crimes, and the fate of many of her victims, remains uncertain. Madame LaLaurie’s life, especially the darker aspects, has become a part of New Orleans folklore and has been popularized in various media, including the TV series “American Horror Story: Coven.”
