Alvin Cullum York, also known as Sergeant York, was a decorated hero of World War I and one of the most celebrated American soldiers of his time. Born on December 13, 1887, in Pall Mall, Tennessee, he achieved fame for his actions during the Meuse-Argonne Offensive in 1918.

After returning from World War I, York married Gracie Williams, and they settled in Pall Mall, Tennessee. The couple had a large family, and their children and descendants have continued to honor the legacy of their father and the contributions he made during the war.

Alvin York’s life and bravery were immortalized in books, films, and history. He received numerous honors for his service, including the Medal of Honor, and he became an advocate for education and the development of his community. Alvin York passed away on September 2, 1964, and his legacy remains an integral part of American military history.
