Arvydas Romas Sabonis is a retired professional basketball player and businessman from Lithuania. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest European players ever and is known for his exceptional passing skills as a big man. He has won the prestigious Euroscar award six times and the Mr. Europa Award twice. He has experience playing in different leagues, such as the Spanish ACB League, and he also spent seven seasons in the NBA. Sabonis, who played as a center, achieved a remarkable feat by winning a gold medal at the 1988 Summer Olympics in South Korea. He represented the Soviet Union at that time. In the subsequent years, he continued to excel and earned bronze medals at the 1992 and 1996 Olympic Games, this time representing Lithuania. He decided to end his professional basketball career in 2005. Sabonis was chosen by the Portland Trail Blazers during the first round of the 1986 NBA draft. However, he didn’t actually make his NBA debut until 1995, when he was 30 years old.
