Alan Steppe
John Smoltz is a former professional baseball player who was born on May 15, 1967, in Warren, Michigan. He is best known for his successful career as a pitcher in Major League Baseball (MLB). Smoltz spent the majority of his career with the Atlanta Braves, where he played from 1988 to 1999 and then again from 2001 to 2008. He also had brief stints with the Boston Red Sox and the St. Louis Cardinals.
Throughout his career, Smoltz achieved numerous accolades, including being an eight-time All-Star, winning the Cy Young Award in 1996, and being named the World Series Most Valuable Player (MVP) in 1995. He was known for his versatility, as he excelled as both a starting pitcher and a closer.
After retiring from baseball, Smoltz has worked as a television analyst and has been involved in charitable endeavors. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2015.
