On August 29, 2020, Te’o, 31, wed Jovi Nicole Engbino, 35, at La Jolla, California. Engbino is a recently trained nurse as well as a fitness teacher. She describes herself on Instagram as a “aesthetic injector,” which is a nurse with expertise in administering Botox injections and other cosmetic procedures.
A few months after the couple’s wedding, Te’o wrote a heartfelt message of encouragement for his spouse on Instagram: “My wife. My closest pal. The Clyde to my Bonnie. This is my yang’s yin. In my life, I’ve made a lot of blunders, but this one, wow, I got it right. I knew she held me down and stood up for me because she did the same for me as my family did, despite all the wounds, jokes, memes, hashtags, uncertainties, and blunders. Look around you when everyone else has abandoned you; the people who remain are the ones who will always be there.”
Following the arrival of their newborn child, Kyro Aumua Te’o, on January 16, the couple officially became a family of four. On Instagram, Engbino shared the news along with a comment that included the baby’s birth statistics. “KYRO AUMUA TE’O 8lbs 13oz | 22 inches long,” written the user. “Hello, my little monarch. You’ve been anticipated by all of us!”

Since his stay at Notre Dame, Te’o has advanced significantly. His grandmother passed at the same day he was being aggressively recruited by the NFL as a star football player. He kept performing well on the field, and his inspirational tale won him praise and recognition around the country. However, further research showed that his girlfriend was a fraud. Even though Te’o went on to play in the NFL, he was under constant scrutiny and criticism for years after becoming the victim of cyberbullying. But the Netflix video shows his sincerity and good intentions, and it’s inspired both new and old admirers to apologize and offer encouragement, which prompted him to post a thank-you note of his own.
