He served as an officer in the United States Navy and worked for Goldman Sachs before branching out into other endeavors like executive producing films in Hollywood and helping to start the conservative news website Breitbart News.

He has also been punished online; in November of 2020, he will have permanent access to Twitter revoked since he suggested the execution of government officials.
For failing to comply with a subpoena issued by the Select Committee on the January 6 Attack, Bannon was found in contempt of Congress in October 2021 and indicted by a federal grand jury on two criminal charges of contempt of Congress.
In a July 2022 jury trial, he was found guilty on both counts and given a four-month prison term and a fine. He has been granted a stay of execution while he appeals his conviction and sentence.
